Michael Kratochvil
I am a New Orleans native who has done work all around the country. I was lucky to grow up in a rich culture and gained an appreciation for the vibrant and beautiful Spanish, French, and modern American art and architecture I was surrounded by. After going to technical college, I began commercial and residential construction. In my community I was participating in small festivals and working in event lighting. I witnessed productions integrate lighting into stage design and environmental lighting. I was drawn to the creative ways new technologies were being implemented into normally pedestrian spaces adding depth to their atmosphere.
Upon moving to New York I dove into scenic carpentry and built sets with large teams of diverse and talented people. I worked with art directors, absorbed the industry lexicon and facilitated a greater dialogue between the artistic vision and logistics of multiple projects while on site.
In my current role, I am a project manager that handles my employer’s largest account. My accumulated skills of CAD design, a broad understanding of electrical code, fabrication, construction techniques and production have allowed me to successfully manage these large scale projects.
I look forward to collaborating with you.
