New Orleans Convention Center
My final project with Paramedia gave a sense of homecoming to New Orleans. Located in convention center park, this artwork at to be designed to withstand literal hurricane force winds and the scalding southern sun. An aluminum, self reinforcing skeleton is at the core of this piece and specially sourced Cumaru (Brazilian Teak) was milled and cladded the frame. As Cumaru is very acidic it had to be isolated from the aluminum frame to avoid electrolysis. The entire electrical system had to be waterproofed, isolated from the elements and hidden for aesthetics.
